Abstract
This study was carried out to determine the factors that contribute to the students' performance in English communication among Bachelor students in UiTM Kedah. Specifically, the objectives of this study were to know the pattern of student's performance in SPM and MUET and to determine the strength of the relationship between self-confidence, preparation and anxiety with student's performance in English communication. The study also conducted to determine the main factor that contributes to student's performance in English communication. Based on the previous research, the findings showed that most of the employers concerned more on the English communication ability in considering employment for fresh graduates. In the context of Malaysia, it is believed that English is correlated with higher income and job productivity. If the knowledge workers do not master in English, they will not be able to participate effectively in global and local productions of knowledge. In the context of education, there must be reasons that lead to the English communication problems among the fresh graduates. Self-confidence, preparation, and anxiety were among the factors studied in the research. In this study, qualitative method had been used to collect the data by using questionnaire.
