Abstract
Cooperative learning is one of the teaching strategies that have been suggested to be an effective method, which can help students improve their performance in English. The general intention of this study is therefore to investigate how cooperative learning enhances students’ performance in English. Therefore, this study is mainly focused on the level two students as they are preparing themselves for the coming UPSR examination. Their performance is based on their last year’s final year examination results, Take On Value test and Operational Target Incremental ( OTI) 1.
This study is also implemented to assist the primary school teachers get a clear picture of how effective cooperative learning strategy can be used as a teaching method in an English Language classrooms. The instrumentation used is questionnaires which are given to both selected teachers and students to explore their sensitivity towards the use of cooperative learning strategy as an effective teaching method in the classroom.
