Abstract
The study focused mainly on the English language mainstream courses conducted at diploma level at Universiti Teknologi Mara branch campuses in terms of course contents and testing. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship of the student performance between Mainstream English I (namely, BEL 200) and Mainstream English II (BEL 250) scores and establish a simple linear regression equation for predicting student performance in the latter. Individual test scores of both papers were paired and sampled, and thus, generating two sets of data each for four semesters. The study revealed that they were significantly correlated with r values of .629, .679, .728 and .700 respectively All tests used a .01 alpha level.
