Abstract
Stress is an unavoidable consequence of modem living. During the past decade, the banking sector had under gone rapid and striking changes like policy changes due to globalization and liberalization, increased competition due to the entrance of more private (corporate) sector banks, downsizing, introduction of new technologies, work demands, work environment, and etc. Due to these changes, the employees in the banking sector are experiencing a high level of stress. The main reason to conduct this study is to indentify main factor lead to the work stress among employee in Standard Chartered Bank Kota Kinabalu Branch. (SCBKK). The respondent of this study were 30 staffs, which is include the Sales Department, Operation Department, Counter Service, SME Department and Priority Banking Department. The Staff categorized into 3 categories that is Managerial Level, Officer Level and Clerical level. Questionnaire has asked about the work related stress and the variable factors. The result obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation. The study concluded that employees of SCBKK are experiencing high degree of stress with respect to the dimensions Salary and Pay, Manager and Supervisor Treatment, Responsibility, Work Load and Demand, Environment of Work and Personal Conflict.
