Abstract
The practice of using the Internet to deliver instruction in the classroom has seen to be very promising. The use of Internet has not only created new opportunities within the traditional classroom but has also served to expand learning experiences. Indeed, the utilization of the Internet is becoming a widely used pedagogical delivery tool in language instruction. In many examples, the change to an Internet-based language instruction has been instituted with less or little consideration of the impact on the students' learning. This report presents the findings from a month study on the effects of Internet on the students essay writing ability. A group of students aged twelve from a primary school in Terengganu was chosen randomly to participate in the study. A true experimental design was employed as the procedural structure of the whole design. Students test scores in pre-test from an internet-based group was compared with the control group whose classroom instruction were from traditional class-based instruction. The researcher found there is significant difference between the gain scores for both groups. Additionally, an observation was also employed to support the investigation. Overall, students in the experimental group had a more positive experience than th control group.
