Menara KOMTAR which started its operation in1979, was then the highest office tower and has became a prominent landmark for Johor Bahru. It is the first building developed and owned by Perbadanan Kemajuan Ekonomi Negeri Johor, which is now known as Johor Corporation. After 35 years in operation, the tower will have a refreshingly modern look with renovation of its external facade and interior design modifications. This effort is also in tandem with the redevelopment of KOMTAR shopping mall. While preserving the distinctive identity and character of this heritage landmark, its capabilities and relevance will be
upgraded to meet contemporary needs of present businesses including high-speed Wi-Fi access. The tower is also equipped with six high-speed elevators. Menara KOMTAR is part of JBCC development of which will have total of 1600 car parking bays and 600 motorcycle bays.
