Abstract

People nowadays want to reduce the usage of wood especially solid wood but still
maintain the quality and exclusive design of furniture produced. In order to reduce
the usage of solid wood, people started to invent a new product from wood
composite such as particleboard, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), plywood and
Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). Therefore, the purpose of this study is to
design and produce an exclusive coffee table by using combination of materials
from wood, plywood, steel, mirror and glass namely Hocomb Coffee Table. The
feedback from selected potential customer based on design, material and
satisfaction towards Hocomb Coffee Table were analysed by using Statistical
Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The analysis found that on the
average the respondents tend to strongly agree about the product design, material
used, price and tendency to commercialize of the coffee table. In addition, the
regression analysis based on overall potential customers' satisfaction revealed that
the design become most significant factor followed by material used to produce the
Hocomb Coffee Table. It is hope that this exclusive Hocomb Coffee Table to be
commercialized in the future at reasonable price so that this product can be accepted
