Abstract
I have always been fascinated by how children at an early age get to know about music. I have been wondering how music attracted them and in a way would make them interested in learning it. This fascination thus, inspired me to conduct a research analysis to investigate the music learning interests among kindergarten children, through their teacher's perspectives; identifying what attracts the children during music learning and behaviors towards music making in classroom; and clarify the suitable teaching styles to encourage higher level of music creativity in young children. Six early childhood teachers, 4 drawn from different public kindergartens and another two from different private kindergartens, responded to an open ended interview questions about their experiences of teaching and using music in their classrooms and personal preparation in teaching young children. Observations in preschool classrooms were also conducted by the researcher to document the use of technologies, musical instruments and music resources used to observe planned or natural opportunities for children's involvement in music. Results revealed strategies used to teach music, the role of music in early childhood curricula, instructional strategies used including singing and movement and use of musical instruments.
