Private body safety education courseware using Addie Model with multiple intelligence theory

The Private Body Safety Education courseware is a teaching resource designed for Year 3 students and teachers of Pendidikan Jasmani dan Pendidikan Kesihatan (PJPK). Given the importance of teaching children about personal body safety, it's crucial that students learn about their rights, how to recognize safe and unsafe situations, and basic self-defense strategies. To meet the need for teaching personal body safety, the Malaysian Ministry of Education introduced private body safety lessons in the Year 3 curriculum. However, a lack of educational materials has caused students to mispronounce private body part names. Additionally, the traditional textbook approach has led to boredom and a lack of focus. To solve these issues, the Private Body Safety Education courseware is developed. It includes three lessons: Sentuhan Selamat dan Tidak Selamat, focusing on safe and unsafe situations; Tips Keselamatan, offering safety advice for dangerous situations; and Kenali Tubuh Peribadi, helping students correctly identify and pronounce private body parts. The courseware integrates text, videos, audio, animations, and interactive activities, following the ADDIE Model. It also applies four aspects of Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory—linguistic, spatial, musical, and bodily kinesthetic intelligence. This has resulted in improved student engagement and enhanced learning, both in and outside the classroom.
