Abstract
In today’s data-driven business environment, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) have emerged as essential tools for measuring success, driving accountability, and aligning individual efforts with organizational objectives. These quantifiable metrics provide clarity and focus, enabling companies to monitor progress and make informed decisions. However, an exclusive emphasis on KPIs risks overlooking the complex human dimensions that underlie sustainable performance. Employees are not merely numbers or output generators; they bring creativity, emotional intelligence, and intrinsic motivation, qualities that often escape traditional measurement systems. This paper explores the tension between performance targets and the human element in organizations, arguing that sustainable success depends on balancing the rigorous demands of KPIs with a genuine focus on talent development and employee well- being. By integrating quantitative metrics with qualitative insights, organizations can foster an environment where both targets and talent thrive.
