Abstract

Civil engineering projects are considered one of the most crucial in every developed and developing country in the perspective of economic and social development. Thus, it is also part of important to achieve successful to completion of the project because it will contributor to the national economy growth. Efficient and effectiveness is one of the significant criteria in ensuring the success in civil engineering projects in term of productivity. Hence, that why labor productivity is considered as an important aspect need to be highlight. Several factors can be classified as an influence to labor productivity, which must be studied in order to improve labor productivity in civil engineering project. In Malaysia, although many research has been identifying that labor productivity is very significant in the construction sector, but there are currently less studies that clearly identify the main factors that affecting labor productivity in civil engineering project. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the main factors that have affected labor productivity and identify level of labor productivity in Malaysian civil engineering projects. Questionnaires were used in this research to collect information and data. Questionnaires were separated into three section which is section A, section B and section C with total of 30 question. A total of 367 forms were distributed via google form, and only 127 completed data forms had been returned. The analysis of the study was conducted quantitatively with the use of Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) program. The results showed that mean value in level of labor productivity in Malaysia in aspect performance, quality of work, punctuality and knowledge is moderate.
