Abstract
This project introduces a contemporary bowl chair design inspired by the iconic Bardi Bowl Chair, reinterpreted to cater to adult users seeking comfort, style, and a sense of enclosure. The chair features a semi-spherical shell that offers a cocoon-like seating experience, encouraging relaxation and ergonomic posture. Supported by a sleek yet sturdy metal frame, the structure balances visual elegance with functional strength. The interior of the bowl is designed to be filled with soft materials such as kapok or layered foam, providing customisable comfort while embracing sustainable choices. Thoughtful attention is given to the modular form and detailing of the seat shell, allowing for potential customisation and ease of upholstery. This chair is ideal for contemporary living spaces, lounges, or creative environments where design and comfort converge. The overall form reflects a human-centred approach, combining sculptural aesthetics with practical usability for modern adult lifestyles.
