Abstract

My significant and eye-opening internship began with Negeri Roadstone Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia's premier quarrying company known for its commitment to sustainable operations and staff development. As a Human Resources intern in the Training and Development Unit, I was actively involved in the development, coordination, and implementation of numerous staff training programs. My responsibilities included processing training requests, working with external training providers, managing participant registration and payments, updating training budgets and records, and overseeing several training sessions from beginning to end. I also assisted with internal inductions and organized employee engagement initiatives. In the SWOT analysis, I discovered the company's strengths, which include access to high-quality raw materials and a strong financial position. However, issues such as the headquarters' proximity to the quarry and poor working ergonomics pose problems. The corporation also has possibilities to expand through national infrastructure projects and CSR initiatives, but it faces concerns from resource depletion and tougher environmental restrictions. Based on these findings, I recommended a number of solutions, including improving air quality and employee well-being, improving workplace ergonomics, expanding into high-growth states, and implementing improved land-use planning and site rehabilitation. This internship not only improved my practical HRM abilities, but it also expanded my knowledge of industrial processes, employee development, and professional responsibilities. I strongly suggest this organization as a good and meaningful learning environment for prospective interns.
