Abstract

Error analysis is one of the most effective ways to investigate learner’s progress in learning second language. This study was conducted among 30 students from part 8 TESL students in the faculty of Education. The objective of the study was to investigate what are the common grammatical errors made by part 8 TESL students in their oral presentations and later, from the findings, suitable recommendations were given. The oral presentations were recorded and analyzed. It was found that most students made common grammatical errors in the wrong usage of basic grammatical rules such as in the usage of tenses and part of speech. However, these errors do not affect the overall understanding of intended meaning. From the findings, some recommendations were made for the students, lecturers and the faculty of Education on how to improve the students’ grammatical knowledge and their study as a whole.
