When books go on vacation: the journey of an interlibrary loan.

Abstract
When a library doesn’t have a book, it can request it through interlibrary loan (ILL), a system where libraries share resources across a wide network. Once a request is made, library staff locate the book from another library and arrange for it to be sent, sometimes across cities or even countries. This coordinated system allows users to access materials beyond their local collection through trusted cooperation between libraries.
