When books go on vacation: the journey of an interlibrary loan

When a library doesn’t have a book, it can request it through interlibrary loan (ILL), a system where libraries share resources across a wide network. Once a request is made, library staff locate the book from another library and arrange for it to be sent, sometimes across cities or even countries.
