Abstract

According to the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (2016-2020), the healthcare system in Malaysia is one of the biggest concerns pertaining to the Government's efficiency and effectiveness. From the viewpoint of the construction industry, this is within the context that the performance and quality services of the healthcare system can be developed through procurement strategies to achieve project success and satisfy the clients and stakeholders. This research aims to identify the success factors of design and build in public hospital construction. The objectives of this research are to identify the performance of design and build in public hospital construction, to determine the main success factors of design and build in public hospital construction, and to identify the challenges in achieving design and build success factors in public hospital construction. A quantitative method was conducted through an online questionnaire survey as the instrument of primary data collection. This research was conducted in Perak, Malaysia due to the highest statistic of public hospitals recorded.
