Abstract
Industrialized Building System (IBS), known as prefabrication, involves manufacturing components off-site ready for installation. Although the Malaysian government has promoted the IBS in the construction sector to achieve advancement in construction technology, implementation of IBS in Malaysia's construction sector remains low compared with conventional methods. This study aims to highlight the issues and challenges of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) in Malaysia's north and central region from a Quantity Surveyor perspective. The objective of this research is to identify issues and challenges of the IBS, determine the main issues and challenges of the IBS, and suggest ways to overcome the Industrialised Building System (IBS) in Malaysia's north and central region from a Quantity Surveyor perspective. A quantitative method has been used to collect data to accomplish this research's objectives. Furthermore, the questionnaire has also been distributed to the Quantity Surveyor Consultant in Malaysia's central and northern regions registered in the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), Klang Valley and Pulau Pinang, and 87 respondents took part.
