Abstract
On 11 th October 2008, the 3rd semester students of Diploma in Tourism Management had successfully completed the Basic Kayak Clinic and mini expeditions from the Waterfront to Bintawa Bridge, Kuching. The clinic was conducted as part of the student's learning session for the course Tour Guiding Skills (HTT 257); a subject that exposes the students on the interpersonal and practical skills of being a tour guide. The program started at 10.30am with a warm-up exercise. After getting their muscle's ready, the activities continued with briefings by the President of Sarawak Canoe Society, Encik Majais Bujang. The students learnt various aspects of managing kayak such as ways to handle the kayak while on land, techniques such as to how enter the kayak, ways to paddle; and safety aspects of kayak such as what to do when the kayak capsize.
