Abstract

BeeSmart Kuasai Kata Majmuk is an innovative educational project designed to enhance primary students’ understanding and mastery of compound words in Bahasa Melayu. The innovation integrates visual, auditory, and interactive elements to make the learning process more engaging, effective, and student-centered. Recognizing the challenges faced by students in identifying and applying various forms of kata majmuk correctly, especially in written compositions and grammar exercises, this project offers a fresh pedagogical approach through digital storytelling, gamified exercises, and characterbased facilitation. Central to the innovation is the use of a friendly animated persona, Cikgu Bee, who guides learners through interactive modules. These include video tutorials, quizzes, digital flashcards, and real-life usage scenarios designed to contextualize compound word usage meaningfully. The content is aligned with the primary school Bahasa Melayu curriculum, making it suitable as a supplementary tool for classroom and remote learning. The learning materials are hosted on a mobilefriendly digital platform, making access easier for students from diverse backgrounds. A small-scale Implementation was conducted in a selected classroom involving Year 4 students. Preliminary findings suggest improved student engagement, increased retention of kata majmuk patterns, and better application in sentence construction. Teachers reported that the resource eased their burden in teaching abstract grammar topics and served as an effective revision tool. Additionally, the cheerful and student-relatable branding of Cikgu Bee encouraged independent learning. The project contributes to educational innovation by combining traditional language content with 21st-century learning design, fostering language proficiency, digital literacy, and student motivation. Future improvements include expanding content to other grammar topics and integrating with augmented reality (AR) for a more immersive learning experience.
