Abstract

Joint ventures play a vital role in expanding lives of companies. Many companies in Malaysia choose to be a part of Joint Venture in order to have greater market access or to expand their business. Joint Venture is a combination of two different companies and can be a combination of National or Non-National Company. Thus, the different view of parents in the Joint Venture will affect the International Joint Venture (IJV) company. Due to this matter, the Joint Venture Company should identify the challenges to curb the discrepancies between parent companies. The main purpose of this study is to identify the challenges in Joint Venture and to identify the most significant challenges in Joint Venture facing by Oil and Gas companies within Klang Valley. There are several challenges in Joint Venture which include control of the IJV by parent companies, autonomy granted to the IJV management, trust between the IJV parents, and cultural differences between the IJV parents. In determining the significant challenges in Joint Venture in facing by Oil and Gas Company within Klang Valley, an Itemized (Unbalanced) Rating Scale has been developed and tested. Therefore, in this research, researchers try to identify the significant challenges in Joint Venture towards Oil and Gas companies within Klang Valley.
