Abstract
This study investigates the utilisation of translation strategies in the English subtitles of a Malaysian animated film Upin & Ipin: Keris Siamang Tunggal. Employing a qualitative approach with a content analysis method, the study adopts the Subtitling Strate-gies framework proposed by Henrik Gottlieb in 1992. The findings reveal the predominant use of the Imitation strategy, with the notable absence of strategies such as Transcription and Resignation. These results furnish valuable insights for translators, sub-titlers, and language professionals, enhancing their ability to accurately and respectfully convey animated films across diverse cul-tures. The study recommends exploring different genres and adopting a multilingual approach, incorporating multiple source and target languages in future research. Ultimately, the research aspires to foster cross-cultural understanding, facilitate language ap-preciation, and navigate the dynamic landscape of digital media.
