Abstract

Recently, in Malaysia, the implementation of Industrialized Building System (IBS) has emerged in the construction industry together with the necessity of maintaining an environmentally sustainable environment has been a priority. Although the IBS was introduced, most of the construction projects are still practicing the convention method. This method is more time consuming and costly, and it also has environmental drawbacks including high energy consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide. In the meantime, the environmental issues that associated with the rising amount of plastic waste are become worrisome in this country since it can put human health and the environment at risk. Thus, towards green building concept, the goal of this study is to develop an environmentally friendly product made from plastic waste by taking one of the IBS methods as the innovation product. A literature review was carried out with the purpose of collecting relevant data in-depth from the research papers that were carried out by other researchers. Subsequently, an experiment, simulation and production of prototype are made in order to designing the innovation product, examining its potential performance including the installation. In short, this innovative idea has the potential to contribute to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
