Abstract
This paper is aim to investigated the impact of macroeconomic variable towards Maybank’s profitability in Malaysia from year 1986 to 2016. ROA is chosen as the dependent variable to measure the profitability of the Maybank. There are four independent variables which researcher categorized the variables as macroeconomic variables which are gross domestic product (GDP), real interest rate (RIR), inflation rate (IF) and market capitalization (MC).This empirical analysis is carried out by using yearly data and time series data. The regression results obtained from the Multiple Linear Regression found that the gross domestic product (GDP) and inflation rate (IF) have significant effect while the real interest rate (RIR) and market capitalization (MC) have no significant effect on the profitability of Maybank in Malaysia.
