Abstract

Concerns about health and safety have become more important in the construction industry in recent years. Around the world, many construction companies, particularly contractor organizations, are putting in place systems for managing health, safety, and the environment in order to lower the number of accidents, get rid of illnesses, and provide a secure working environment on their sites. Every contractor has a distinct approach to safety management measures. Nevertheless, prior research did not delve into the specific health and safety concerns among Malaysian construction professionals that can be deemed successful. As a result, the descriptive method will be used in this study. The purpose of the research is to ascertain the safety and health risks that Malaysian construction industry experts are concerned about to mitigate related health and safety issues. Using a random sampling technique, 212 construction experts involved in Grade G7 in Kuala Lumpur were given questionnaires; 70 of them were returned. The statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 27 program was used to gather and assess the data. Most respondents agreed with the safety and health risks that construction professionals confront, according to the data. Owing to these obstacles, the respondents also concurred that the suggested necessary measures to be implemented by them to lessen the safety and health concerns were appropriate. At the end of research, we can identify what is the most safety and health concerns that usually happen among construction professionals in Malaysia also what the cause to the concerns and how we can come out with strategies that can mitigate the concern of safety and health that happen among construction professionals. The highest concern is the weather condition that exposed them to risk such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke and dehydration. The weather also can affect the plant and machineries on site which lead to malfunction. The malfunction plant and machineries lead to delay in construction project and can cause damage to the construction professionals itself.
