Abstract
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a lipophilic soluble compound that can be found in plant and animal. It acts as potent lipophilic antioxidant which prevents lipid peroxidation, scavenging superoxide and provides various therapeutic effects to the body. Categorized as a health supplement, CoQ10 demonstrates low solubility and bioavailability. Due to these characteristics, CoQ10 poses various challenges related to its effective therapeutic effects. In this manuscript, we review some common physicochemical characteristics and therapeutic values of CoQ10 in diseases management. Bioavailability approaches for CoQ10 advanced formulation were discussed systematically. Additionally, this review also suggests recent advanced technologies applied in order to provide effective utilization and absorption of coenzyme Q10.
