Abstract
Quality of Life (QoL) is defined by World Health Organization, WHO as an individual's perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live related to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns. Therefore, QoL is very subjective as it depends on individual self evaluation. Since there is no QoL study has been performed among pharmacy students in Malaysia, this study provides an insight on the QoL of pharmacy students in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. This study was cross-sectional involving 256 UiTM pharmacy students. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Descriptive and inferential analysis were performed. The findings were UiTM pharmacy students perceived moderate satisfaction in QoL. Among the four domains (i.e. physical, emotional, social relationship and environmental), UiTM pharmacy students reported the lowest score in social relationship and the highest score in environmental domain. The QoL of students were found to be significantly influenced by the year of study, residency and mode of transportation. The scores in physical and environmental domains among the UiTM pharmacy students were noted to be improved across the year of study. Students who lived with parents showed better physical domain score than students who stayed in college. It is noted that the pharmacy students who went to class by bus reported the lowest score in all domains compared to other modes of transportation. Overall, the UiTM pharmacy students reported a moderate score in each QoL domain. Future studies can be done to explore the ways to improve the QoL among UiTM pharmacy students.
