Abstract

The purpose of this study was to monitor the expired medications in Clinical Training Centre (CTC). This will help pharmacy staff in managing the stock of the medicines in CTC. The study was conducted by assessing data obtain from the ledger record and bin cards' record and analyse by using Microsoft Excel. Out of 287 medicines used, 65 of them have expiry date less than a year, 119 are within 2 years and 103 have expiry date of 3 years. From the result obtained, 104 medicines need to re-purchased and 71 have sufficient amount for following year's usage. Out of 19 clinics in CTC, ophthalmic clinic have the highest usage of medicines which is 29 medicines in total. Proper management of medicines can prevent the shortage of medicines as well preventing unused medicines that can cause medicines to reach its expiry date. Hence, the hospital budgeting can be save.
