Teacher talk in the classroom: how much is enough?

Ariffin, Kamisah (2009) Teacher talk in the classroom: how much is enough? Other. Universiti Teknologi MARA.

Abstract

This paper investigates students' preference towards teacher talk in an English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom. Specifically, it investigates the students' expectation of the ideal teacher talk time and the preferred teacher talk behaviour during their classroom learning. The findings reveal that students felt that their teachers talk far more than they expected and wished teachers would decrease their teacher talk (TT) and the TT itself should be more objective.
