Abstract

Poly(N-isopropylacyrylamide) poly(NIP AM) is a thermoresponsive polymer which has attracted much scientific interest in many fields of study such as engineering, biomedical and in pharmaceuticals. It is classified as 'smart' material due to its ability to respond to a change in its environmental temperature. The polymer underwent a conformation transition in the form of volume collapse at temperature known as volume phase transition temperature (VPTT). Many studies reported that the VPTT of poly(NIPAM) is between 32°C to 33°C [1, 2], which is close to the human body temperature (- 37°C). This phenomenon has led to its application in drug delivery [3] and skin grafting technology [ 4].
