Abstract

During my memorable six-month journey of internship with SBM Offshore in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I worked as a finance intern in the accounting department. My internship tasks included updating profit and loss statements, allocating accounts in SunSystems, retrieving supporting documentation, and amending invoices in the master invoice listing. I also took part in training workshops and received compensation for my contributions. SBM Offshore is a major player in the offshore business, providing specialized goods and services to the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors. In the oil industry, SBM Offshore is well-known for its Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) ships. These floating factories take oil from the seabed, refine it, and store it before transporting it to shore. While, the gas industry, SBM Offshore's main product is the Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit. These units liquefy the natural gas extracted offshore, allowing it to be processed and stored at sea. SBM Offshore is also investing in renewable energy, with major developments like Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) platforms and Wave Energy Converters (WECs). In this report, we will emphasize and focus on SBM Offshore's SWOT analysis that reveals its strengths in technological competence and personal growth, as well as prospects for rapid technological advancement and rising worldwide energy demand. However, the corporation suffers training and management shortcomings, as well as high operational costs, in addition to dangers from geopolitical events and environmental issues. My TOWS matrix provided solutions for leveraging strengths and opportunities, addressing weaknesses, and mitigating risks via innovation, stakeholder involvement, and sustainable practices.
