Abstract

Due to rapid property development in the country, the roles played by the government agencies such as the Land Authority, Local Authority and Department of Environment have become more important. This is because in order to develop certain projects, approval and/or recommendations from these agencies are required. This is to ensure that development projects are carried out in conformity with the standards imposed by the Malaysian law. This subject will address the practical and legal problems confronted by property developers and the procedures they are expected to be conversant with, in order to ensure smooth running of the project, and to avoid or minimise litigation. Among the topics to be covered include details of planning law, building plan and its functions, procedures to be followed and the duties of the relevant parties in construction works and upon completion of building works. This course also promote the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as ethics and professionalism in the area of property development law.
