Abstract

An internship offers a chance to apply theoretical knowledge acquired from academic coursework to real-world situations within a professional environment. Internships are often essential components of many degree programs and offer numerous benefits to students. I completed my 6-month (24-week) internship at S Associates, Butterworth, Pulau Pinang, from 1 March 2024 to 9 August 2024. During this time, I gained significant experience and knowledge, particularly in the audit field, which was not covered in my course studies. My supervisor, Miss Lee Chia Ling, the principal auditor of S Associates, guided me throughout this period. This internship enhanced my written and verbal communication skills in a professional context and provided me with experience working in a team environment on audit engagements. I learned how to collaborate with colleagues to achieve common audit objectives. This internship allowed me to explore potential career paths and helped me determine if a particular industry or job role aligns with my interests and career goals. The report begins with my student profile, including my resume, which details my educational background, work experience, leadership roles, university achievements, and skills. It also includes the company background of my industrial training, including its vision, mission, objectives, organizational structure, and the services provided by S Associates. Additionally, I conducted a SWOT analysis of the firm, identifying its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Overall, I understand that practical training at an audit firm provides a comprehensive learning experience that extends beyond theoretical knowledge, preparing me for a career in auditing and accounting. It allows me to apply classroom concepts to real-world scenarios and develop the practical skills necessary for a professional work environment.
