Abstract
We were tasked with designing a public pavilion that incorporates a fusion timber design and other elements, with the goal of creating a multifunctional and inclusive space that serves as a focal point for community engagement, cultural expression, and recreational activities. The design process looks into the crucial components and factors, emphasising the significance of sustainability, accessibility, and visual appeal. The design of a public pavilion begins with a thorough analysis of the site context, including its natural surroundings, cultural heritage, and community needs. By understanding the site's unique characteristics and constraints, designers can develop a concept that responds harmoniously to its environment while meeting the functional requirements of the project. Accessibility is a fundamental consideration in the design of the pavilion, ensuring that it is welcoming and inclusive to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. We apply suitable design principles to create barrier-free access, comfortable seating options, and clear wayfinding throughout the space, enabling everyone to fully participate in its activities and events. Cultural sensitivity and expression play a significant role in shaping the design aesthetic of the pavilion. The pavilion offers a variety of flexible spaces that can accommodate a range of activities, from public gatherings and performances to educational workshops and exhibitions.
