Abstract

The course provides comprehensive knowledge and theories in Dental Public Health. The candidates will be exposed to in depth knowledge in concept of public health, epidemiology, oral health promotion, oral health related quality of life, evidence based practice, health economics and health care system. This course is also designed to develop knowledge about public health, determinants of health, and the scientific and professional leadership skills to translate this knowledge into effective dental public health interventions. The students should be able to steer and acquire basic scientific skills along with a scientific approach in problem solving. The list of knowledge and skills which are non-exhaustive, act as a checklist to ensure the widest coverage of Dental Public Health concept and theory. Teaching methodology includes lectures, seminars, practical sessions and journal club. The course assessment methods include written examination, viva voce as well as continuous assessment. Continuous assessment will be evaluated thorough out the year in the form of semester tests, projects, assignments, critical appraisals and seminars.
