Thermoplastic composite manufacture using ara sawmill sawdust

Mohd Nor, Nor Ahmad Rizal (2002) Thermoplastic composite manufacture using ara sawmill sawdust. [Student Project] (Unpublished)

Abstract

This is a study of producing thermoplastic composite from sawdust of Ara (Ficus spp.) Thermoplastic composite from sawdust of Ara (Ficus spp.) is followed from 10%, 30% and 50%. Tests such as bending, tensile, thickness swelling and water absorption are carried out. The result showed that, 10% of sawdust of Ara is most suitable. This because from Bending Test showed that 10% of sawdust is very strength compare to 30% and 50%. The high content of PP to influences the result, as it will produce a perfect bounded between sawdust and PP. The thickness swelling and water absorption showed that the water could absorb into 10% than 30% and 50%. This is because PP will decrease the amount of water absorption. Generally, using 10% of sawdust is the most suitable quantity for mix with PP to make the good thermoplastic composite.
