Thermoplastic from Araucaria hunstenii fiber

Salleh, Mohd Razaleigh (2002) Thermoplastic from Araucaria hunstenii fiber. [Student Project] (Unpublished)

Abstract

Thermoplastic from Araucaria hunstenii has been ascertained. The test for bending, tensile, thickness swelling and water absorption has been done for make sure Araucaria is more comfortable in making thermoplastic composite. The percentage has been test for making of thermoplastic composite from Araucaria is 5%, 10%, and 15%. For bending test, 10% of Araucaria fiber uses are the highest result. In tensile test, 10% of fiber uses also is the highest result. This result showed that 10% of fiber is suitable added with plastic (polypropylene) to make thermoplastic. In water absorption and thickness swelling test showed an increasing from 5% of fiber user to 15% of fiber users. Result for 10% fiber is moderately good. In overall 10% of fiber uses is the most recommended for making thermoplastic.
