CSI101 : Medical laboratory technology principles and practices I / Faculty of Health Science

This course covers subject areas common to all specialized subjects within Medical Laboratory Technology. An introduction to laboratory techniques and equipment in Clinical Microbiology, Chemical Pathology, Histotechnology, Parasitology, Cytology, Immunology, Transfusion Medicine, and Haematology. Emphasis is on laboratory safety, medical terminology, ethics, professionalism, interpersonal skills, accessioning, confidentiality, and transport of dangerous goods, sterilization, disinfections, basic equipment and reagents. It is also used to demonstrate techniques and procedures not yet studied by the students. Undergo these course will make teaching the concepts easier for the following semesters.
