Industrial training report: Petra Resources Sdn Bhd

My 24 weeks of internship at Petra Energy has provide an immersive introduction to the dynamic world of business, particularly within the oil and gas and corporate sectors. This hands-on experience allowed me to contribute meaningfully to various projects, deepening my understanding of organizational operations and their complexities. Collaborating with diverse teams further enriched my perspective, particularly in the areas of Human Resources, where I focused on Business Human Resources Management (BHRM) and Learning & Development (L&D). In the Business Human Resources Management (BHRM) department, I gained practical exposure to managing workforce-related processes and policies. As an intern student, I assisted with multiple tasks such as employee data management, preparing HR documentation, supporting the onboarding process for new hires, and screening the resume & curriculum vitae for candidates. I also contributed to coordinating employee engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. I also played a key role in joining, organising, and setting up various events at Petra, such as the Program Umrah, Tazkirah SSabil, the Human Capital Open Day 2024 and more. This experience highlighted the importance of effective HR management in fostering a positive and productive work environment. In the Learning & Development (L&D) department, I actively contributed to the design and implementation of training programs aimed at boosting employee skills and performance. My responsibilities included analysing training needs, planning sessions, and assessing program effectiveness through performance metrics and feedback. This role gave me invaluable insight into how strategic employee development initiatives drive organizational success.
