Abstract

The research was carried out to study determine of the chemical properties contained in the dates fronds. This research involves in determining the chemical properties of dates frond such as moisture content, cold-water, hot-water, ash content, lignin content, alcohol-toluene solubility and holocellulose. The chemical composition in Phoneix dactylifera frond show lower content except for determination of Ash and determination of alcohol toluene solubility of wood compared with Oil palm frond (OPF). The chemical properties are important for any kind of wood and non- wood because this content will influence the strength or the weakness of such product that will produced.
