Abstract

This subject exposes students to the concept, approaches and basic theory of psychology of human communication related to art and design. The discussion covers the topics of self-knowledge, awareness, listening skills and responding, listening process, perception, small group communication, emotions and motivation, and art & design therapy. Understanding the self in learning self-awareness is pertinent for them to be more sensitive to environment and people. This subject also emphasizes to help the students understand the theory and develop the competencies in effective interpersonal communication. Students are guided to be a confident communicator, empathy, able to identify emotions, to be assertive in interactions. This subject also discusses art and design as a therapy in relation to human needs.
