(Unpublished)
Abstract
Aquilaria malaccensis or Karas was subjected to chemical analysis involving the alcohol-benzene solubility. The research was done at different extraction time such as 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours and 10 hours with the aim to determine the optimum amount of extraneous component extractable from Karas. The extraneous components that will be extracting are tannin, gums, sugar, fats, waxes and etc. The time influenced the percentage of extractives component for 4 hours (15%), 6 hours (17%), 8 hours (19%) and 10 hours (16%) where the optimum valued the Karas can extracted was 8 hours.
