MUP425 : Fundamentals of conducting / College of Creative Arts

This course explores the principals and fundamentals elements of conducting technique. The main focus is on baton technique, score reading, score analysis, and general rehearsal procedures as well as aspects of choral conducting. Students will be assigned to appropriate groups according to their abilities. A variety of musical excerpts from standard choral, orchestral, and wind repertoire will be explored. They will apply techniques learnt. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate conducting styles by well known conductors.
