Abstract
This course is designed to introduce students to Malay traditional music with emphasis on the Dondang Sayang, Malay Asli Music and Ghazal Johor genres. Topics will cover the historical aspects, function, instruments, repertoires, and performance practice. Students will also receive playing experience in three basic traditional ensemble of Dondang Sayang, Malay Asli Music (Asli, Inang, Zapin, Joget and Masri Rhythm) and Ghazal Johor genres.
