Abstract
This course is designed to introduce students to Malay traditional music with emphasis on the Makyung, Wayang Kulit Kelantan and Malay Asli Music genres genres. Topics will cover the historical aspects, function, instruments, repertoire, and performance practice. Students will experience playing musical instruments in three basic traditional ensembles of Makyung, Wayang Kulit Kelantan and Rebana Melayu Asli/Malay Asli music genres.
