Abstract
This course provides students with the opportunity to investigate the field of ethnomusicology in a seminar format. Possible topics of discussion include ethnomusicology (the study of music in culture) – its origins, methods, role among the various fields of inquiry, value, and major contributions. Central issues and problem areas of general concern of ethnomusicology will also be discussed.
