Abstract
This course focuses on the historical and philosophical bases of music education – for the purpose of helping future music teachers/educators understand the history, value and purposes of music education. In the first section of this course, students will gain an overview of the history of music education, especially in Malaysia. In the second half of the course, the value of music is looked at from various viewpoints, emphasizing musical experience as aesthetic experience. Students will develop their own beliefs and philosophy on music education.
