Abstract

In general, this paper describes the current practices for maintaining and reporting accounts receivable on MEMORANDUM BASIS by various Public Sector Agencies in Malaysia. However, the practices of government enterprises which follow commercial accounting principles is being discussed too. This is to allow comparisons be made between the practices of the two sectors. In addition, problems of the existing system are also being highlighted, and lastly, recommendations are also proposed to improve the present system.
