Abstract
This study describes mainly the significant of cesium carbonate (Cs2CO3) with other conditions chosen such as tetrakis (triphenylphosphine) palladium, silver nitrate and dimethylformamide to synthesise trans-A, 12-dimethoxystilbene 1 All reaction conditions chosen ware appropriate to synthesise 1 This study was carried out using Heck reaction process to achieve the objective of this study to synthesis 1 Heck reaction was expected as efficient method to synthesise stilbene. Before proceed to Heck reaction, 4-iodophenol were undergo protection of hydroxyl group to form 4- iodoanisole. Protected 4-iodoanisole were coupled with 4-methoxystyrene to give 1, an important antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds. The expected compound to be synthesized was successfully obtained.
