Abstract
This course raises students’ awareness and understanding of the interactive relationship between factors and impact of language issues. It is about the nature and character of language around the world. In addition it exposes students to debates and controversies surrounding languages i.e. debates and controversies concerning the functions and status languages have in diverse world contexts. The course is also a forum for discussing current language issues in global and local contexts.
