Abstract

Batik is delicate art, which requires patience and skills. It is very popular in Malaysia to be worn for official functions as well as daily casual wear. The Malaysian batik is quite different in design and motive from another country. In making Batik, it begins with the basic design with motive and color before imprinting it. In other word, the motive and color show the tradition and religion of the country. Commonly, Malaysian batik adopts the motive of flora and fauna such as flower, bird and butterfly. This project was conducted with the aim to adopt the motive from Malaysian batik and transformed the motive into the occasional table. By this, we can promote and introduce the traditional concepts of Malaysia into furniture products.
